The main purpose of establishing this Association was to unite all those involved in the miniature horse industry, to insure the promotion of the breed, and to have better communication with those people already involved in the breed.
So, December 6, 2003, a meeting was called for the organization of a miniature horse group representing all of Nova Scotia. To make a long story short, the paper work got done and we were on our way, hereafter, to be known as MHANS; Miniature Horse Association of Nova Scotia.
The Miniature Horse is a very versatile breed. The general impression of a mini should be that of a small, yet
sound and well balanced horse. They should exhibit strength, agility, and alertness. Their disposition is eager,
willing to please and friendly. The mini comes in all colours of mane, tail and body. The Miniature Horse Association of Nova Scotia accepts miniatures up to 38” in height. The height measurement reflects the distance from the ground to the last hair on the mane. To compete in the conformation/line classes all horses must be registered in one of the following registries:
· American Miniature Horse Association (AMHA): 34” and under.
· American Miniature Horse Registry (AMHR):
*Division “A”- 34” and under;
*Division “B”- 38” and under to 34”
· World Class
